Award winning event organizer Louise Wyllie of PURE WYLLIE, based in Boat of Garten, gave a Venue Dressing Workshop to a group of 18 students at Kingussie High School on Monday 23rdNovember to inspire them about totally transforming their school hall and canteen for Food on Film 2010 next February. She will also be spending the day with them on February 5th when they dress the venue, to help them achieve the dramatic results they are hoping for. Teacher Mairi Rossi said “ I am delighted that the students can have this opportunity to work alongside an industry professional, some of them may even find it inspires their career choices in the future.”
Now organized by a newly formed Kingussie Food on Film committee, the third festival on February 5th-6th will incorporate several community groups, each of which will be organizing their own contributions to the celebration. Joining in for the first time will be Kingussie Primary School, and Caberfeid Horizons will be involved for the second year. The Auld Alliance Gourmet Academy will be organizing the indoor Food Hall and cookery demonstrations and competitions, and Health and Happiness Highlands are planning to make their own food film to screen at the festival.
Kingussie High School’s contribution to the festival – Oscar Night – opens the festivities on Friday 5th when films made by students across the Highlands will compete for the Highland Youth Award for Short Food Films, which will be awarded by a panel of film industry judges. The Venue Dressing Team’s task is to provide the glamour by transforming the school and creating an amazing setting for the evening. Local live youth bands and a gorgeous chocolate fountain will keep festival goers entertained and fed while the judges choose the winners – and cash prizes will be presented by the festival’s newly appointed patron – BBC’s Craig Anderson – who will also launch the festival this year.
