JUDGES FOR THE HIGHLAND YOUTH AWARD FOR SHORT FOOD FILMS 2011:
Marcus DF White is a tv and film director and writer with a huge list of credits to his
name – Taggart, Monarch of the Glen, Casualty, Emmerdale and Jeopardy to name a few. He won a BAFTA for his adaptation of the Melvin Burgess novel “Junk”, and was deputy chair of the events committee at BAFTA, promoting and encouraging new talent in the film industry. Marcus is currently developing drama projects with new writers, and has his own production company – can-u-see.tv – a subtle twist on the name of the place where he grew up and went to school, Kingussie.
Amanda Millen is a Development Producer for Creative Highland, the company
delivering the Screen and Broadcast strategy for the Highlands and Islands. Amanda is working across the Highlands and Islands to develop the independent production sector. Amanda has worked in television, film and radio production for the last 15 years: working at the BBC in delivering programmes such as River City, Waterloo Road, and Channel 4 delivering the First World War; feature films Afterlife and Ratcatcher, and acting as Executive Producer on many short films produced through schemes like the Tartan Shorts, as well as various radio programmes for BBC Scotland and Radio nan Gaidheal. Highlands and Islands Enterprise is funding this initiative with funding from ERDF, the European Regional Development Fund. Amanda is on the BAFTA Scotland Committee.
Lynne Stanford is currently working for cinema development agency Regional Screen
Scotland. She has worked for the Edinburgh International Film Festival where, amongst other things, she compiled the 2009 Film UK Guide and supported the screenings department. She has also worked for the production & development department at Screen WM where she supported short filmmakers and new screenwriters. She loves cinema and prides herself on her eclectic taste!
James Hacking has a background in business and is currently writing and directing
films. His latest feature film “No Ordinary Trifle” - which is yet to be released – will have a charity preview at the festival as the main feature film on Saturday 5th at 5pm when James will join us and talk about his film after the screening. James is the owner of Just Nuts Films which was formed in 2008 to produce English films with an international appeal and he will be bringing all his recent experience of filming with a star cast to the judges panel.
